Viking overall winners of the 19th Merseyside Canoe Polo International

The Weekend of 12-13th June saw the launch of the summer 2010 Canoe Polo tournament season at Queens Dock, Liverpool. The weather was mixed, as usual, sunny and blustery on the Saturday; sunny and still most of the day on the Sunday, until it came to the finals in all three classes, when the heavens opened.

Viking overpowered Dragon in class A to become overall 19th Merseyside Tournament Champions. Over 35 teams contested the weekend and the event ran smoothly.

Great thanks to all of the FOALCC volunteers who slaved non-stop and to all of the enthusiastic contestants who made this tournament so enjoyable.

We look forward to seeing you here next year for the 20th. Does FOALCC have any plan to win this next one?

FOALCC young paddlers present a cheque of £2000 to Save the Children funds' Haiti appeal

FOALCC young paddlers present a cheque of £2000 to Save the Children funds' Haiti appeal

A representative of the Save the Children Fund came along on Saturday to receive the club's donation cheque of £2,000.00.

Whilst picking up the cheque she also gave a small informative presentation of some of the conditions that the less fortunate children live under. I think most of you are aware that much of the funds raised were a direct result of our younger members inspired by Sharon Stone taking time out to 'rattle the buckets' and put themselves on view to highlight the plight of other young less fortunate children.

The reasoning behind our kids being the focus of attention at the presentation on Saturday is surely an example for us all.

Well done to Sharon and the other supporting parents and least not our young members.
